If you have iDrive, you can connect your phone and music over Bluetooth, including apps. I run Spotify off of my iPhone5 with no issues.
For rear seat video, BMW makes an iPad holder that clips onto the back of the front headrest, but as far as I've seen, they only hold the 1st gen iPad, not the second or third.
I don't have a rubber mat in the back, but there's a decent amount of storage below the load floor. I keep a liter of brake fluid and a quart of oil in the bucket next to the battery and my silly hippie shopping bags under the load floor.
