Thats seems a bit excessive. 80km/hr is not exactly going to get you anywhere

I agree with the other posts, keep it below 3500rpm (on a diesel) for the first 800 miles (1200km). From then on you can gradually increase RPM's. Modern engines don't need the "seating" that old engines did, tolerances are much higher.
