So who is lying? N-20 Timing Chain
Spoke to two different service advisors at BMW of Las Vegas and one told me yes the timing chains gaurds can be an issue and they were replacing one on a 6 cylinder which cost over $7,000. The other advisor told me he he has only seen one chain failure on a 8 cylinder engine and the n20 he has never seen a catastrophic Engine failure or timing Chain. He has been with BMW for years. He claims the n20 has proven a reliable engine.
They did tell me mine was part of the one extended to 70,000 miles which would provide me little comfort but thank God I purchased the extended unlimited mileage coverage for 4 years.
