Having tried many cars equipped with pleather and genuine leather, there are still some differences b/t the two. It might be down to the grain of the material. Leather breaths well too. Not as scratchy as pleather. I guess if you always wear jeans and full shirt, that might be OK.
I don't know if any lotions would help.
FWIW, MB's pleather aren't any better.
Also there are varying levels of leather from basic "this is leather, deal with it" to "ohmigosh I want to cuddle here awhile" type of leather.
Our X1's more the former.
