I also have a Mac and use the freeware software "doubleTwist" (
www.doubletwist.com). It works in conjunction with iTunes and creates identical iTunes playlists for usb drives instead of your iPod. Plug in a tiny usb drive and forget about the special BMW Apple cable that came with my 2014 X1 s28i with standard Professional Radio that must be used with an iPod.
