I purchased a 2012 BMW X1 28i xDrive one month ago and got a bad luck : there's dark smoke coming from the exhaust on every cold start. So I took the car to a good indie BMW mechanic to have it checked and that's what he found : There's an oil leak around the turbocharger and it's coming from either the oil line or both the oil line and the turbo.
Work estimate of 7 hours (87.50$CAD/h).

My question is, should I take a chance and replace only the oil line for 50$ a piece (and potentially needing to replace the turbo later, paying the 7 hours of work again) or should I replace both parts at the same time ? I was quoted 2750$ for a new turbo.

Thanks for your input!

PS. I wasn't sure if I needed to start a new thread or just reply to this one.
What's the mileage? how long will you keep the car? if it's a keeper and the mileage is higher already, might be worth it to do the turbo at the same time. Could you save some $ by getting the turbo rebuilt?
