To be fair the E84 was rather underpriced as well - is basically a 3 series AWD wagon with a slightly higher suspension and different body, yet it sold for nearly $10K less... And this in a market that values SUVs over wagons. So the price adjustment is warranted, just not to this extent.

Underpriced?? I politely disagree. The base model was STRIPPED BARE and it's not a 3-series wagon at all, they make a 3-series wagon that is considerably larger, the X1 is a damned shoe-box. Once you added options it quickly nudged $50K CDN to drive away in one even in 2015.
