In a slightly different vein, C&D didn't like their long-term first gen X1, but now they like the current model better than the new one.
From reading the carzines, I can't figure if BMW has indeed lost their way, or if it is now cool to pan anything BMW, having praised them for so many years.
For what it's worth, I love my X1 for its handling, power, and (to some degree) practicality.
I just love driving the damned thing.
