BMW changed from an incandescent bulb to a LED on 2013+ models. They even list them as "LED Corona Rings" on their website.

IMO they are perfect. Yes, the new x5 seems to have brighter LEDs but they actually blur the crispness of the ring. I find them too bright. Stock 13+ x1 LED rings are perfect.

I mean this respectfully but you really are a noob

Halos are the corona rings pictured above. They are your accent, DRL lights. Xenon is a bulb that is used for nighttime driving. When you upgrade to the xenon lights, BMW gives you the LED corona rings. If you don't opt for xenon, you get old incandescent bulbs (both as headlights and DRLs).
