X1 Aux Issue

Hi all,

I'm a recent owner of a 2010 2.0d model. Here in Australia we don't get the petrol 3.5 option (not yet anyway) otherwise that'd be the one. The 2.0d is fun, if a little noisy at idle.

I've been trying to figure out WTF is going on with my aux input into the stereo. I have no idea what sort of stereo this is, other than an iDrive with pretty basic nav (and a smallish screen). I have attached some photos in the hope that someone might be able to tell me in case its relevant.

Anyway, my aux input socket is not working. At all.

I've tried with an ipod/iphone directly with a 3.5 mm cable, no sound.

Then I tried a y cable from Viseeo to iphone - also no sound.

Then I tried a y cable attached to a WM1000 Viseeo Streamer which showed up on the nav screen, but still no sound!

Checked settings - all volume settings are ok, including the input volume through the nav.

The plug is not obstructed (read full of gum or some other thing) and cable appears to be attached properly the rear of the stereo (nothing loose).

I read on a BMW e90 forum somewhere that the aux port can apparently be coded to work or not? Is this true?

Anyone got any ideas? Experienced similar? What did you do?

I know I could take it to BMW and ask them to fix it, one local dealer has already failed to call me back twice and I don't want to spend $$$ if there is a simple fix that I've somehow missed.

Cheers, Flipper.
