I have got 27 mpg in a brand new (200 miles) xDrive28i during a 400 mile round trip to Tahoe from Bay Area (Read my previous post in this thread.)
I think around 30 mpg should be possible in a relatively flat mostly highway trip.
My current overall average at 1150 miles is 24.5 mpg (about 50/50 city-highway except the 400 mile trip to Tahoe).
