There are a couple ways to do it. I suppose the cheaper way involves the most valuable tool in the box and I'm not sure many BMW drivers would appreciate it. The proper way to do it involves cutting, welding, and painting. The FJ Cruiser suffers from a similar issue, but to a much worse extent. Next time you're near your car take a look in the back of the fender well and you'll see areas of fender liner that push forward - this is where the issue is, as there is metal behind these portions. For what it's worth, different offset wheels may have an effect on this, I'm not really sure. Right now my setup is fairly aggressive and I do wonder how changing the offset would have made a difference.
