It's quite possible it IS waiting to be loaded on a ship. Depending on where you live (east vs. west coast) they will have a select few ships they use to transport the vehicles across the pond.
It's not like boats are lines up waiting to load your car and bring it. It takes over 2 weeks to make the journey one way with port stops.
9 days waiting on a shipping vessel is not unreasonable.
