Most modern "pure" autos are confused by sudden changes in throttle input. It probably because of their tuning for emissions. Mine only lurches slightly when I start to accelerate quickly, and then lift the throttle, and then start to accelerate again. Same thing in my wife's Edge, and our old Acura TLS.
BTW, I also came directly from a GTI ('13), but mine was a manual.
