They are not, they are driven from the power that goes to the tiny bulb in your high beam bowl. Your DRL is your high beam at 6 volt and in my case is drives the bi-xeon solenoid. And at 6 volt it shudders, so I had to code DRL to the tiny bulb which is your angle eyes.
