I hear you on run flats but I went with NON run flat Pirelli. Here's why:

1) The RFTs provide a much harsher (not stiffer or better) ride. I now know this first hand.

2) Remember - RFT is only good for 50 miles. The times I WORRY more about flats are when I'm 100s of miles away from home. SO whether RFT or regular, I'm screwed if I'm out of town.

3) The kit from Slime has good recommendations and apparently works. If I get an on-road flat, I can call AAA or try to fill with the slime thing. It's small and fits in one of the side compartments in the hatch.

4) My last "on road" flat was probably 35 years ago. 95% of my flats are slow leaks that I notice in the garage.

The Bridgestones - have you looked at them? I know "ugly" is a personal preference matter but I thought they looked bad on the X1. SEEING them clinched the deal for me.

Having said all that, my number 2 choice is the tire you mention... even it if is ugly.
