Zip', found a 'Bell' labeled 12V pump at a local autoparts store, plus some plugs styled as 'heavy duty'. It's all reasonably compact, and the pump will reputedly fill a tire in 3 minutes. Found a place for all of it in the trunk without unduly compromising storage and still having place for my usual junk. As per your suggestion, a 4"x6" piece of plywood found its way into the trunk...don't tell the folks who made my jack...Also stuck in a small pair of ViseGrips and a Leatherman tool...
As a side note, just drove down the mountain to Bedford and back in an absolute deluge, and was very happy with how the car handled, and how well I could buzz slow traffic on secondary roads.
Thnx for the advice; happy to have the plugs, jack et al, and hope I never need any of it.
