It's been mentioned a few times here by various people, but it's not primarily acceleration that kills mileage on a somewhat heavy car like this, but using the brakes. One way to save fuel is to accelerate up to above what you would normally do, and then glide for as long as possible. Try to not hit the gas pedal on inclines, but roll up using the momentum, even if you slow down. Cause it's much cheaper to accelerate down a hill than up one. And avoid braking, especially late braking to a stop, or right before a curve. That's where most people lose fuel.
