Unless a new part has come out in the last year, I think they're all relatively similar. There was one that had an all metal housing, but still had a plastic impeller and electric motor with the same susceptibility to failure.
I'm assuming that, by "on the ground", you mean up on jack stands? If so, I take it that the 2-ish feet of ground clearance isn't enough to make the job more manageable?
