Mostly use the paddles unless heavy traffic. The stock mapping is very lazy IMHO and the DS programming I don't find all that great. For comparison we also have a 335d and its programming is smoother (much different torque profile of course), but I also use the paddles in that one as well :P
If there was a 3rd pedal option for the X we would have gone that route...
