Like most things photographic, it all boils down to what you shoot and how you shoot it.
I have absolute faith in my 5D3 and no intention (at the moment) of changing it. It just works perfectly for me and my night shots.
1000iso tends to be the 'sweet spot' for my night exposures like this one -
