Hmm. Interesting. I have simply trusted the trip computer numbers so far. Annoying if one cannot.
I never had a trip computer on the TDI, and was always bothered that an eco car would not tell you the mileage numbers directly. I always had to calculate them by hand.
Looks like I'll have to do the same on the X1, just to correlate the numbers it's giving me.
It would not surprise me if the computer mileage numbers are low. You can FEEL the dialed-back throttle response and gas sipping almost immediately when you hit the Eco Pro button. It FEELS like it is saving more than 5 miles per tank (the usual "miles saved" number it gives me).
Guess I'll have to wait until my next tank top-off to see what the true numbers are.
