The N20 in the E84 X1 is also a twin scroll turbo I4.

Coming out of a 135i prior to he X1, I was quite surprised at the 228i. My 135 had a twin turbo I-6 and this one has the twin scroll turbo on an I-4. The engine in the 228 really pulls and it feels about as quick as my 135 did. Overall the fit and finish is quite nice and I am also enjoying the $1,500 leather seats. I'll have the convert until tomorrow because the car has to "sleep" for sit hours to register the new battery. At least the temps are in the 60's here in Fla and I can enjoy the top down experience.
