Thanks for all the helpful replies. I'm that much closer to pulling the trigger now. I've located some sDrives in Northern California (via web). I was hoping to trade the Lexus in, which might make that harder. I might have to order the X1 locally and take the bus for a while.
If anyone is familiar with the Seattle climate, any comments on xDrive vs. sDrive. My impression of the area is that everyone thinks they need a Subaru. I learned to drive in Buffalo NY, and found that RWD with snow tires works just fine. Seattle winters are light rain and an occasional freeze. Almost no snow here, but there are a lot of hills.
I guess I am generally curious why xDrive seems so popular and if it's worth the extra money. The dealer told me that buying an sDrive would hurt resale value in this market.
