I won't speculate about Canada, but for the US, I strongly, strongly doubt that they will bring the I6 X1 2.8 over. The reason is that they would then have to crash test the vehicle with both engines (since the engine effects crumple zones) for US certification and it does not make sense to spend the money twice for what would almost surely be just a few months of production anyway.
I'm still unclear on the date of the worldwide debut for the X1 turbo 4 cyl, but I would guess that if it does happen before the Canadian release date, then Canada will indeed get it as well. However, that's just my guess.
