fwiw, I was just at the local dealer here in Vancouver (friend was picking up a new 3) and hidden in the corner was a bronze coloured X1 2.8i. According to the sales guy, it was a 'training' model for the staff to get familiarized with, and not available to the general public yet.
A few nuggets - the 2.8i is the Turbo I4, and it will only come with the 8-spd slushbox for canada. No 6MT in the works.
Nor the diesel, for that matter.
Size wise, it was actually bigger than I was expecting. Passenger cabin space was virtually identical to the 3-series sedan, although the trunk did look a tad small. Looked good; although not a big fan of the bronze colour.
