If you can't find a wire to use for a "remote" turn on, there's a gadget you can get that will watch the audio signal and enable power only when an audio signal is detected. I believe I used the "PAC 7" for this in my previous car. It's tricky to get set up correctly, but once set up and installed, works fine.
This is probably the same thing mentioned above as part of the LOC. Most LOCs won't have this feature, but if you do get it all in one unit, that would be easier and cleaner.
